Our Curriculum

At Daffodils Nursery and Grammar school, our curriculum is rooted in our school vision and values. Our distinctiveness and ambition for all members of our school community is woven through our core belief that every child is unique and deserves to be nurtured and that they should experience a rich, and purposeful curriculum that enables them to grow in knowledge about themselves, one another and the world. Our curriculum- both taught, learned and experienced- enables children to flourish as confident, knowledgeable human beings equipped to make a difference.

EYFS (2).png

The statutory framework for the EYFS sets the standards for the learning, development and care of children from birth to 5 years in England. The guidance within the EYFS framework ensures that early years leaders, practitioners, teachers, teaching assistants and childminders, can effectively support and nurture the learning and development of children in their setting, from birth to five years of age.

Play, and more importantly learning through play, is an essential part of the Early Years Foundation Stage. As children move into the reception year, a greater emphasis is placed on learning skills that will support and prepare children for the learning expectations in year 1.

All practitioners working in this stage of education must follow the statutory framework for the EYFS. In addition, some practitioners also find the Development Matters EYFS Guidance Document helpful. Although non-statutory, this document contains lots of information about the different stages of development and gives examples of how practitioners can support EYFS children with their learning.

KS 1-2

The national curriculum in England and Wales is made up of different year groups that make up five key stages. Within these key stages, students will take standardised exams based on the school year and level they are at.

The exams are specifically designed for each key stage to measure how a student is performing and learning in particular areas of study that have been set out in the national curriculum. Teachers will be aware of the objectives for the national curriculum and will teach topics in their classes that will help children to pass each key stage.

Daffodils Nursery and Grammar Schools currently offer Key Stage 1 (Years 1-2) and Key stage 2 (Years 3).

Key Stage 1 syllabus is typically designed for students who fall in the age group of 5 to 7 years, where they are guided by well-trained teachers to help build a strong foundation in their crucial schooling years.

Our two-year primary programme focuses on developing languages, teaching mathematical skills and sowing the seeds of scientific inquiry into young minds. It helps build a solid basis for academic and extracurricular activities which are part of our holistic framework.
