Philosophy

Welcome to Daffodils Nursery and Grammar school (Daffodils) where we build upon every child’s natural curiosity to inspire a love of learning, creativity and imagination.

We provide a safe, exciting and well-resourced environment designed to stimulate social interaction and the development of a range of skills. In partnership with parents, we meet the needs of each individual child to ensure that they become happy, intelligent, confident and caring individuals who are fully prepared for full-time education and life beyond.

What we offer

We support social and educational development through structured play, following the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum (UK). Our nursery is built upon the principles established by Maria Montessori who pioneered a method of education that is based on self-directed activity, hands-on learning and collaborative play – see below for further information.

You can be assured that your child will learn in a bright and spacious environment full of fun and exciting activities based on your child’s needs and interests. We believe outdoor play is very important and your child will be able to go out twice a day to play outdoors in the fresh air.

At Daffodils everything reflects a dedication to quality, creativity and excellence. The mixture of foundation stage development goals and Montessori surroundings provides your child with enriched learning experiences within a beautiful environment designed to awaken their senses. Your child will also have the opportunity to take part in extracurricular activities such as football, music, baking and gardening weekly.

Activities

Our staff applies the Montessori theories within our setting, teaching your child to be in touch with their environment and encouraging them to be independent. The very first activities in a Montessori Nursery develop your child’s ability to look after him/herself and their environment and encourages respect for their surroundings and their fellow students.

Development Records

We make and document regular observations of your child to ensure that they are learning and developing to the best. Your child will also have a folder that documents their progress and development. We are more than happy to discuss your child’s day and their progress with you, and a staff member will always be available to chat with you.
